Dear Artist:
Welcome to this wonderful artist resource site! I congratulate you on taking the first step toward becoming a successful professional artist. Whether you are a traditional artist, digital artist, photographer, sculptor or writer, I think you'll find this web site to be an invaluable source helping you along the way to living your dream by making a living with your craft. When I was first starting out in the late 90's, I honestly had no clue what to do next, I just knew I loved to paint faeries and mythological subjects. Thanks to some very kind people who were there to encourage me along the way, I found my path and haven't looked back. It is my hope that through my Artist Manual and this site, that I too can help artists just starting out find their own path. Right now the world's economy is challenged. I know many of you have lost your "day jobs" or are in fear of losing them. This couldn't be a more opportune time to finally take that leap and make a go of working as a professional artist. By "taking the wheel" so to speak, and taking charge of your own art career, you can finally have the joy and rewards that come with being your own boss and making a living doing what you love to do most...your art! That's not to say that it is an easy road, for there will most likely be many bumps along the way. But this site, along with its many resources, tools and words of wisdom, will certainly make that journey a little easier. When I started, I had but a handful of paintings under my belt, and sold only a few prints per year. Since those early days, I now make a very comfortable living from the various aspects of my art (print and original sales, licensing, product sales, publishing deals and shows and appearances around the country). My artwork alone supports my family and I, and sustains several employees that help me fulfill orders. It is my sincere hope that each one of you finds this same success. While it may not be an easy and quick road, it is definitely possible, and is very much worth all the hard work it takes to get there!
